ABOUT EMS
ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) uses innovative technology that offers people a more powerful and effective workout in 20-minute training sessions per week. There is extensive research to support its benefits, especially in areas of muscle recovery and strengthening. Aktiv20 uses award-winning devices that offer cutting edge technology to give you the best results.
HOW IT WORKS
THE SYMBIONT DEVICE
The SYMBIONT training system utilizes low- and medium-frequency electrical impulses that can train almost all muscle groups in the body, including the deep stabilizing muscles, simultaneously. The electrical impulses enhance voluntary muscle contractions, leading to intensive muscle training in a short period of time.

HOW DOES EMS WORK?Basically, EMS works by using electrical impulses to stimulate and contract your nerves on command. During regular exercise, the brain sends signals to the muscles you are using- which causes them to contract naturally. The body responds by increasing circulation through the distribution of additional oxygen and blood to that muscle area. An EMS device works by mimicking this process and gently sending impulses/ signals to your brain that stimulates your muscles and causes them to contract.

WHAT DOES EMS TRAINING FEEL LIKE?Familiar with the feeling of getting a good workout? That’s essentially what EMS feels like. Because your muscles are contracting and relaxing in a similar way to that of a regular exercise, the feeling of using EMS is very much alike. Since your muscles are contracting and relaxing in a similar fashion to regular exercise, the sensation feels very similar to a good workout. Some have described it as a mild tingling sensation. Remember that since you control the strength of the impulses, you also control the amount of stimulation and can adjust for your own comfort level.

HOW SAFE IS EMS?Let us assure you that EMS training is safe. When doing EMS training in the comfort of your home - you’ll be doing so alongside a qualified, skilled and experienced personal trainers with the accessibility of our alignment partners who are medical professionals. There are, however, certain medical conditions such as pregnancy, acute illnesses (viral infections, fever, inflammatory processes etc.) or electrical implants (pacemakers etc.) which are contraindications and thus it is not recommended to do EMS training. Therefore, we advise that you consult with your medical/ health practitioner and gain consent.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EMS TRAINING?In more recent years, there has been quite a lot of research to ascertain the positive impacts and benefits of EMS training. Studies and results have shown that it has helped with weight loss and toning, improved muscle performance and it’s been especially successful in injury recovery and rehabilitation. Below are some other areas of improvement: - Strength endurance - Improved agility and speed - Muscle development and growth - Muscular balance (aids in the reduction of joint or muscle pains) - Overall core stability and maximum strength

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTSYou’ll feel a difference after your first EMS training session. As your body releases endorphins and as most major muscle groups in your body have been activated, you will experience increased physical awareness, resulting in an improved posture. After a day or two, you’ll feel some muscle stiffness, which is normal and is indicative of your body’s recovery process. Within a period of about 4 weeks, you’ll feel stronger and different muscles will improve to coordinate movements more effectively. After roughly 6 to 8 sessions (6 to 8 weeks) you will not only feel, but also see a visible difference from the EMS training in the form of gradually increased muscle formation and a possible reduction in body fat (depending on your diet). As with conventional training, EMS training should be done regularly to ensure and maintain optimal results.
